NINA ULMAN

Nina has been dancing since the age of 3 and teaching dance since 2007. For most of her early dance career, Nina trained and competed with the Hickory Hills Dance Troupe, winning high awards in jazz and contemporary. During her time with Troupe, Nina is grateful that she had the opportunity to train under Jeff Williams (Cutting Edge Dance, Colorado), Hector Flores (JUMP Dance Convention), as well as Sonya Tayeh (So You Think You Can Dance). At the same time, Nina danced and competed with the Amos Alonzo Stagg High School Poms Team, winning 1st place at the Illinois Drill Team Association State Competition in 2006 and 2007. After graduating high school, she continued dancing and competing on the Monmouth College Fighting Scots Dance Team for four years. During her tenure on the team, Nina served as the Technique Coordinator from 2010-2011 and the Head Dance Captain/Coach from 2011-2012. After graduating from Monmouth College, Nina continued to teach dance at various studios in the Chicago suburbs at the same time she completed her Master's Degree from Marquette University. Nina is also completed a mentorship in Contemporary under the tutelage of Connie Sweeney (formally Fagan) from 2012-2013. While teaching at Momentum Dance Studio, Nina also is a technique and conditioning coach for the Marist High School Dance Team and is the Head Coach for the University of St. Francis Fighting Saints Dance Team. Created from the dance experience she continually accrues, Nina's teaching philosophy addresses the fusion of a dancer being both an artist and an athlete. Her favorite part of teaching is the ability to train her dancers how to move with unending grace and athleticism.
